Favourite things. Baby Giraffe.
Paternoster. I was lucky enough to notice this tiny gecko whilst staying on the West Coast. He was probably about 2 cm long and just absolutley perfect.
Namibia, Himba baby on his brother’s lap.
Did you know …. giraffes are around six feet tall at birth and grow at a rate of about one inch a day? After weaning the mother moves the calf to areas with low branches so that it can learn to eat vegetation. This photo is of a new giraffe baby drinking from it’s mommy, we could see the umbilical cord and the ranger guessed it to be less than a month old. Treat. Londolozi Game Reserve.

I want to introduce you to the Tvaso National Park in Nairobi. Partly occupied by the Sheldrick Trust, which is a charity that takes in baby elephants after their mothers have been killed by poachers as well…

Giraffe and her calf in the Timbavati, Tanda Tula. If you look closely you will see that the baby still has it’s umbilical cord which means it’s less that eight weeks old. Baby giraffes are about 6 foot tall at birth. Those eyelashes are so enviable.
Come and live with me me me please baby porcupine!
African Hoopoe {Upapa Africana} - The oak tree outside my office has a baby African Hoopoe in it, nesting, bravely looking about every now and then, being fed by the beautiful parents who are never far away. What a treat!
